How to Fix Missing sitemap.xml
What it is
A sitemap is an XML file listing the pages you want search engines to find, usually at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.
Why it matters
- It helps crawlers discover pages, especially new ones or pages with few links to them.
- It is easy to maintain automatically on most platforms.
- It does not guarantee pages are indexed, but it helps.
How to fix it
- Generate a sitemap with your platform or a generator tool.
- Upload it to the site root if you manage files yourself.
- Reference it in robots.txt with a Sitemap: line.
- Optionally submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, then re-scan.

| Shopify | Shopify creates /sitemap.xml automatically. |
| Plain HTML | Write a sitemap.xml by hand (a urlset with url/loc entries) or use a free generator, and place it in the site root. |
